Computing Background
I began playing
around with computers in 1981 when I got the ZX81 for my birthday. Wow,
what a machine! with a whooping 1K of RAM, I experimented with
it's un-structured programming language - BASIC. In 1986 I got the
Spectrum 128 + followed shortly by a jump to Commodore's Amiga 500.
This machine rocked (compared to the Atari ST) in addition to the
wicked games, the sound was phenomenal. In order to support myself
whilst at college, My first track was produced and released using a four track sequencer called ProTracker. After a short but fairly successful carrer in music, I decided it was time to take my carrer to the geek side of computers
In 1999 I became
involved in Internet technologies, whilst working for one of London's
biggest ISP's.
Here, I started with simple static HTML
pages before progressing to dynamic, websites. I also provided
support to both home and business users that experienced
connectivity issues Since then I have progressed to more more back-end
support of various technologies..
I believe that more
than just technical skill is required in the IT industry so ensured I
would have a basic knowledge of business processes and media concepts,
which are vital to make technology work with a business rather than
against it.
My Internet and
traditional programming backgrounds has led me to experiment with Java
recently.
My varied background
has given me experience with (or at least exposure to) a variety of
languages, applications and technologies. Items marked with a *
indicate a passing familiarity rather than in-depth knowledge.
